Troubleshooting
A drive doesn’t show up in another app
Section titled “A drive doesn’t show up in another app”Android
- Check the drive is switched on (Enabled in its settings) and, on the free plan, that it’s your active drive.
- In the app’s file picker, tap ☰ or Browse to see all locations. Your drives are listed by name.
- Some apps, including some file managers, only list storage on the phone. Try Pretend local storage in the drive’s settings. Apps that read the phone’s storage directly can’t see any cloud location; use the app’s Open dialog, share the file from CloudMount, or use a sync folder.
- After renaming, editing or importing a drive, choose the folder again in apps that had saved access to it.
Windows
- Check the drive is shown in File Explorer (its menu on the Drives page). On the free plan only one drive is.
- Check the drive’s state on the Drives page for Locked, Sign in again or Can’t be shown in File Explorer.
Sign-in needed or Sign in again
Section titled “Sign-in needed or Sign in again”The service no longer accepts the drive’s sign-in: it expired, you changed your password, or you revoked CloudMount’s access. Use Reconnect (Android) or Sign in again (Windows) on the drive. Its settings are kept.
If Google Drive sign-ins expire every week, your own client ID’s app is in Google’s Testing mode; publish it.
Saves don’t reach the drive
Section titled “Saves don’t reach the drive”- Android: check the upload notification or the Transfers screen. Uploads are held while Pause uploads, Upload on Wi-Fi only, Pause during battery saver, Upload only while charging or Quiet hours apply; the notification’s Upload now sends them once despite those rules, and Resume ends Pause uploads. If CloudMount was stopped, uploads resume the next time it runs.
- Windows: check Activity → Waiting to sync, and whether syncing is paused. Failed items say why and when CloudMount tries again; in Explorer they show Couldn’t sync.
Changes made elsewhere don’t appear
Section titled “Changes made elsewhere don’t appear”- Android: listings are cached for 30 seconds. Pull to refresh in CloudMount, or reopen the folder in the Files app.
- Windows: drives without change notifications are checked every few minutes. Use Check now on the drive’s page, or lower its interval. See Changes made elsewhere.
Copying or moving is slow
Section titled “Copying or moving is slow”If the backend can’t copy or move on the server, or you’re copying between two drives, the data downloads and uploads through your device. Check the backend’s Server-side copy and Server-side move support on its page. Folder moves on backends without folder move support move every file one by one.
Large files open slowly on Windows
Section titled “Large files open slowly on Windows”Microsoft Defender scans a cloud file completely before an app may read it, so the whole file downloads first. See File Explorer.
A server on my network can’t be reached
Section titled “A server on my network can’t be reached”- Your phone or PC must be on the same network as the server, or connected through a VPN.
- On recent Android versions, CloudMount needs Local network access. Without it, connections to your network time out with Local network access is blocked. Grant it with the Local network access row in CloudMount’s Settings → Security and privacy, or as Nearby devices in Android’s settings for CloudMount.
Error messages (Android)
Section titled “Error messages (Android)”On Windows, CloudMount shows the message rclone reports.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| You appear to be offline | No network connection. |
| Sign-in has expired | Reconnect the drive. |
| The drive denied access | The account doesn’t have permission for that file or folder. |
| Out of space or over quota | The drive is full, or the service’s upload quota was reached. Google Drive limits uploads to about 750 GB a day. |
| Couldn’t reach the server | The address is wrong, the server is down, or a firewall blocks it. |
| Temporarily unavailable | The service is overloaded or rate-limiting. CloudMount retries. With a shared OAuth client ID, consider your own. |
| This drive doesn’t support that operation | The backend can’t do what was asked, for example setting a modification time or creating a public link. |
| An item with that name already exists | Choose another name, or change When a file already exists (Android). |
| The server’s certificate isn’t trusted | A self-signed or private certificate. On Android, install the certificate in Android’s settings. |
Getting help
Section titled “Getting help”- Android: a drive’s settings → Diagnostics checks the network, connection and free space, and Share report shares the result with support. Help and about → Contact Us writes to support.
- Windows: a drive’s page → Check this drive checks the network,
connection and free space, and Copy report copies the result for
support. Settings → About → Logs opens the log folder. Include
engine.logandapp.logwhen you report a problem.
Email support@cloudmount.app. Diagnostic reports and logs don’t include your files. Reports leave out drive names, addresses, paths and the service’s error messages; logs can include file and drive names, so check them before sending if that matters to you.
